Aguas do Porto is responsible for the proper treatment of the wastewater of the city of Porto. Looking to the future, it wants to explore to what extent the treated water can be reused for simple applications with limited additional treatment.
For this purpose, in 2023 we carried out successful tests using ultrafiltration. Now, Aguas do Porto has taken over the plant and produces about 700 m³ of permeate per day that is suitable for use as rinse water, irrigation water, or for cleaning the streets.
